Welcome to A Good Call Bingo Staff Training

In this program, you will learn:

  • what responsible gambling is and how licensee staff can encourage patrons to make informed choices about their gambling,
  • about problem gambling and some of the warning signs of unhealthy gambling behaviour,
  • how some words and actions can reinforce gambling myths and misconceptions and
  • how to refer players seeking help and information to community resources and support services.

What is A Good Call Bingo Staff Training?

A Good Call is a mandatory social responsibility training program that educates bingo facility licensee staff to recognize the differences between healthy and at-risk gambling behaviour. Workers also learn how to appropriately respond if someone at their facility appears to have a problem with gambling.

What will I learn?

In this program, you will learn:

  • to recognize the signs of healthy play
  • to recognize the warning signs of at-risk and unhealthy gambling behaviour
  • the reality behind common gambling myths and how to encourage healthy, sustainable play and
  • how to refer players and families seeking help to local support services and resources.

Need proof of certification? No problem.

Licensee staff must provide proof of A Good Call Bingo Staff Training certification at the request of an AGLC Inspector. Proof of certification includes:

  • paper printed certificate that has a QR code; or
  • a clear digital image (e.g., screen shot) of the certificate saved on the staff member's mobile device.

Proof of certification can be accessed from the Personal Information and Completion Status pages of your SMART Programs account. Sign in to print a copy of your certificate or save an image of it to your mobile device.

If you can't access your certificate, send us an email or call 1-877-436-6336, toll-free in Alberta, between 8:15 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. The SMART Programs office is closed on weekends, statutory holidays and from December 24 through January 1st.
